Western New England went 10-2 last season. One of the losses came against Salisbury State in the NCAA Division III playoffs. Mignault, a 5-10, 270-pound guard, was a four-year starter for the Cavaliers and a First Team Division III All-State selection his senior year. Migneault was part of an offensive line that allowed Hollis-Brookline to lead Division III in rushing in 2011, and allowed four sacks in 127 pass attempts,

Mignault also holds the Hollis-Brookline career record for tackles by a defensive lineman and tackles for a loss. Mignault also played varsity lacrosse and was on the Hollis-Brookline wrestling team. He will also be a member of the Golden Bears wrestling team.

UNH's starting QB job remains up for grabs

In the ongoing battle to claim the University of New Hampshire's starting quarterback role, James Brady passed for 300 yards and three touchdowns, and Andy Vailas ran for a 90-yard score to highlight the offense's 96-46 victory against the defense in Saturday's spring Blue-White Football Game at Cowell Stadium.

The scrimmage, which marked the official end of spring camp, featured a modified scoring system that credited the offense with additional points for big plays (20-or-more yards) and back-to-back first downs. The defense accrued points through sacks, tackles for loss, three-and-outs and forcing missed field goal attemps and PATs.

Brady (13-for-17, 300 yards/eight rushes-39 yards, TD) connected on a 70-yard touchdown toss to junior Tim Farina (two catches-79 yards, TD), a 67-yard scoring strike to redshirt freshman Jared Allison (three receptions-93 yards, TD) and a 1-yard TD hookup with senior Joey Orlando, who led the receiving corps with four receptions for 101 yards and two TDs.

Vailas (2 of 7, 18 yards, TD) found Jimmy Giansante (three catches-22 yards, TD) for a 10-yard scoring pass, and the sophomore QB provided the game's longest play from scrimmage when he scrambled out of pressure on a thrrd-and-20 play and dashed 90 yards for the game's opening touchdown. Vailas finished as the game's leading rusher with 84 yards on two carries.

Redshirt freshman QB Sean Goldrich went 10 of 15 for 147 yards and a 32-yard TD pass to Orlando. He also ran for 61 yards on 10 carries with an 11-yard TD scamper.

Other notable running performances were turned in by sophomore running back Jimmy Owens (seven carries-25 yards), who scored on a 1-yard rush, and sophomore wide receiver R.J. Harris, who notched 52 yards on three carries to go along with three catches for 40 yards.

Senior linebacker Michael Bradley registered a game-high seven tackles, including one tackle for loss, and sophomore defensive end Robbie Zauck tallied two sacks among his four tackles. Sophomore cornerback Steven Thames collected five tackles and a blocked PAT. Junior defensive end Cody Muller and redshirt freshman Danny Riley each recorded a sack.

UNH names captains for 2012 season

The quartet was selected as the result of a team vote.

Buzbee ranked third on the team with 88 tackles in 2011. The 6-foot-3, 238-pound middle linebacker recorded six tackles for loss, one sack, one interception and tied for the squad lead with five pass breakups.

Evans won the Buck Buchanan Award as the Football Championship Subdivision national defensive player of the year last season. The 6-foot, 226-pound middle linebacker led the nation with 7.67 tackles/game and ranked second in the FCS with 165 total tackles, the second-most in UNH history. In addition, he was named a Walter Camp Football Foundation All-American, The Sports Network/Fathead.com All-America, College Sports Madness All-American, Phil Steele's All-America, Beyond Sports Network National Defensive Player of the Year and the Gold Helmet Award winner as New England's player of the year.

Peters paced the Wildcats' running attack in 2011 with a team-leading 595 rushing yards on 117 carries; he averaged 5.1 yards/rush and notched seven touchdowns in 11 games. Peters, a running back/kick-returner, ranked third in the CAA with 24.6 yards/return and was second in the league with 139.4 all-purpose yards/game.

Zarkoskie served as the starting left guard one season after starting every game at center. The 6-foot-1, 286-pound offensive lineman is a two-time member of the CAA Academic All-Conference Team, has twice garnered the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award and was tabbed to the 2011 FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team and the Capital One Academic All-District Team.

The Wildcats close out spring camp with the annual Blue-White Game on Saturday (12:30 p.m.) at Cowell Stadium. Admission to the game is free.

Wilson, who also played quarterback, running back and retutned kicks for St. Anselm, signed a three-year free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday night.

"They were on campus five different times, and they sent multiple scouts out," St. Anselm coach Pat Murphy said. "He's fast, he's tough and he's got a great football IQ. If he doesn't have any of those three things we're not talking about him right now."

Wilson was St. Anselm's starting quarterback as a freshman, but played primarily receiver during his last three seasons with the Hawks. He attended UNH's pro day earlier this month.

"He's able to do just about everything but play tight end or offensive line, or linebacker or defensive line," Murphy said. "That's one thing he's got going for him is his versatility. He can play special teams."

Wilson played in 37 games for the Hawks. He's the program's all-time leader in receiving yards (2,149), receptions (211), touchdown receptions (17), all-purpose yards (5,367), total touchdowns (30), total points (184), kick-return yards (1,800) and kick-return touchdowns (two). Wilson also ranks third in rushing yards (1,626) and fourth in both rushing touchdowns (11) and total offense (2,629).

Murphy said Wilson is scheduled to fly to Arizona on Friday.
