PLYMOUTH -- The New England Football Conference preseason coaches' poll has been released, and Plymouth State University has been picked to finish seventh in the 2012 Boyd Division race. The votes were cast by the conference's head coaches.

Defending NEFC champion Western New England University was the top choice in the Boyd Division, receiving 58 points with three first-place picks. Salve Regina University and Endicott College each totaled 54 points to tie for second, with Salve Regina taking three first-place votes and Endicott two. Western New England was also the choice of four Conference coaches to repeat its NEFC title, but Salve Regina and defending Bogan Division champion Framingham State University also received four votes.

Rounding out the Boyd Division voting was UMass Dartmouth (34 points), Curry College (30), MIT (24), Plymouth State (21), and Nichols (11).  PSU finished with a 4-6 record last season, and placed sixth in the division with a 2-5 mark.

Framingham State and Bridgewater State were voted as co-favorites to win the Bogan Division, with each institution receiving four first-place votes and 58 points. Westfield State University finished a distant third with 41 points. 

The Boyd and Bogan Division winners will meet for the NEFC Championship on November 10, at the site of the Bogan Division winner. The NEFC champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
