Shrine fundraiser will be held in Salem
Two players who suited up for New Hampshire in the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl are oganizing an event at the Blackwater Grill in Salem to raise money for the Shrine cause.
Steve Diantgikis (1985 Shrine Game) and Ryan Carr (1995) are spearheading a Mardi Gras Night with the goal of raising $25,000 for the Shrine Orthepedic and Burns Hospitals for Children in the Notheast.
The event is a costume party and there will be beads and masks sold at the door for those not in costume. In addition, there will be food, a DJ, silent auction items and raffle items.
The fundraiser will be held June 16 from 7 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.
The amount of money raised will be announced at halftime of this year's Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl, which will be held Aug. 4 at Dartmouth College.
"I have never forgotten my visit to the Shriners Hospital in Springfield when i was a player and now I have an opportunity to help those children again," Carr said.
