No. 4 Monadnock at No. 1 Trinity

  • Team records: Monadnock is 6-3. Trinity is 9-0.
  • Regular-season result: Trinity won 16-7 in Swanzey.
  • Noteworthy: Trinity is one of three teams in the state with a chance to complete the season unbeaten. St. Thomas and Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough are also undefeated. The Pioneers are trying to reach a championship game for the third consecutive season. Trinity beat Bishop Brady for the Division V title in 2009, and lost to Lebanon in last year's Division IV championship game. ... Monadnock hasn't played in a championship game since 2003, when it lost to Milford 27-16. ... Trinity's Josh Hughes ran for a 75-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter when these teams met in the regular season. The TD came after Monadnock turned the ball over on down at the Trinity 28-yard line. The Huskies trailed 8-7 at the time. ... Monadnock's Jesse Lieby ran for 100 yards on 24 carries in the earlier meeting between these teams. Hughes finished the game with 101 yards on 17 carries. Neither team completed a pass. ... Trinity has outscored its opponents 313-91 this season.

No. 3 Laconia at No. 2 Plymouth

  • When and where: Saturday (1 p.m.) at Plymouth Regional High School.
  • Team records: Laconia is 7-2. Plymouth is 8-1.
  • Regular-season result: Plymouth won 35-14 in Plymouth.
  • Noteworthy: A strong first half carried Plymouth to a 21-point victory when these teams met in October. The Bobcats scored on each of their four first-half possessions and led 28-14 entering the third quarter. Plymouth's Taylor Newberry rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries in the victory. Plymouth's Nick Reisert caught two TD passes from Will Horan, who also ran for a touchdown. David Mahoney scored both Laconia touchdowns on runs of 6 and 3 yards. Mahoney ran for 96 yards on 19 carries in the loss. ... Laconia has scored at least 28 points in each of its seven victories, and scored at least 42 points in five of those games. ... Plymouth outscored its opponents 327-134 this season. ....Trinity handed Plymouth its only loss. Laconia lost to Trinity, but beat Monadnock 45-28 last weekend. ... Plymouth beat Laconia for the Division IV championship in 2008 (14-7) and 2009 (38-0). ... Laconia will likely move to Division V next season.
