The top candidates for this year's Mr. Football Award:
JERICKSON FEDRICK (SR., RB) SALEM: Rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries during a 22-6 victory over Concord. Will be tough to beat if he turns in a strong performance and Salem upsets Pinkerton in the Division I semifinals in two weeks.
EMMITT SMITH (SR., RB) PINKERTON: Popped back on the radar by rushing for 181 yards on 16 carries in a 49-28 victory over Manchester Central. Smith also returned a kickoff 80 yards for a TD.
KEVIN DAVIES (SR., RB/LB) PINKERTON: Ran for 114 yards on 16 carries in a 49-28 victory over Central that secured the top seed for the Division I playoffs. Might be Fedrick's top challenger.
ARMOND McCRAE (SR., RB/DB) NASHUA SOUTH: Took a step back when he was held to 47 yards on 12 carries in a 45-7 loss to Exeter on Friday night. It was the first time in the last seven games that McCrae didn't gain at least 100 yards on the ground. He has run for 953 yards this season.
STEVEN DWIGHT (SR., RB/LB) MANCHESTER MEMORIAL: Rushed for 127 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown, on 22 carries in a 27-25 loss to Londonderry. Also caught a 15-yard TD pass with 16 seconds to play, but the Crusaders failed on the two-point conversion.
Watch List: Colin Pellerin (Hollis-Brookline), Josh Hughes (Trinity), Billy Lane (Portsmouth), Jared Chandler (Manchester Central), Jake Pleadwell (Exeter), James Caparell (Bedford), Tyler Zabkar (Dover), Aaron Martin (Manchester West), Ryan Monette (St. Thomas), Cody Dalton (Memorial), Tyler Grant (Exeter), Connor Benjamin (Goffstown), Nick Reisert (Plymouth) and David Mahoney (Laconia).
