Nashua South's Farkas among Yukica award winners

Nahua South quarterback Keith Farkas, who committed to play football at Sacred Heart University earlier this month, is one of 29 seniors who will receive the scholar-athlete award from the Joe Yukica/New Hampshire Chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame.

Each player will be recognized at the foundation's 24th annual dinner on May 4 at the Executive Court Banquet Facilities in Manchester. Tickets are available by calling 669-7070.

Farkas threw for 1,984 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior, when he also rushed for 506 yards and eight touchdowns. He accounted for 6,114 yards of offense and 64 touchdowns (5,608 yards passing) and averaged 41 yards on punts during his high school career.

  • The Sullivan's (Winnacunnet) are the first twin brothers to receive the award. Both will attend Phillips Exeter Academy next season.
  • Ten of the 29 winners have been selected to play in this summer's Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl: Sam Carney, Stephen Cuipa, Joseph DiPalma, Nick Hession, Luke Somers, Max Jacques, Doran Logsdon, San McClain, Cody Patch and Jon Roth.
  • Jack Pearl is the fourth brother to receive the award. His older brothers Sean, Dan and Jim are previous recipients.
  • Souhegan's Nick Hession recently committed to play football at Bentley College.
