Shrine Game will return to Vermont
WINDSOR, Vt. -- The Board of Governors for the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl has decided to hold the 2011 game and Windsor (Vt.) High School for the third year in a row. The game will be played on Aug. 6, 2011.
"The town of Windsor and Windsor High School have been very supportive and we appreciate all they have done for us," Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl general chairman Wayne Shepherd said. "The amount raised for the Shrine Hospitals this year was double what we did last year.
"We will continue to look for a permanent home for the Shrine Bowl. Until 2008 Dartmouth College was our home and could well be again. Right now though, we want to take our time and look at all our options and talk with those involved."
The Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl was played at Dartmouth from 1958 to 2008, with the exception of three years: 1967 when the game was played at the University of Vermont; 1968, when it was held at the University of New Hampshire; and in 2006, when it was played at Plymouth State University.
The head coaches for the 2010 game will be announced in December, and the Vermont and New Hampshire rosters will be released in February.
