Toman named CAA's top offensive player
DURHAM - University of New Hampshire senior quarterback R.J. Toman has been named the Colonial Athletic Association's Offensive Player of the Week on the heels of his career-high 348 passing yards and four touchdown passes in the 16th-ranked football team's 31-10 victory over Lehigh on Saturday at Cowell Stadium.
Toman was 26 for 37 through the air for the Wildcats (2-2), distributing passes to seven different receivers. The 6-1, 212-pound captain helped three UNH receivers set career highs in receiving yards: senior Terrance Fox (134 yards, nine catches); senior Kevon Mason (77 yards, two catches) and sophomore Joey Orlando, who set career bests in receptions (10), yards (81) and touchdowns (two).
Through four games, Toman has completed 81 of 125 passes (64.8 percent) for 899 yards and seven touchdowns. He ranks second in the CAA in passing yards per game (224.8) and total offense (246.8) and has now thrown for 6,500 career yards, fourth in UNH history, and 54 overall touchdowns.
