Long named to NEC Honor Roll
PLYMOUTH -- Ty Long, a starting halfback on the Plymouth State University football team, was honored by the New England Football Conference for his performance on the gridiron last Saturday.
Long, a sophomore who playe at Dover High School, was named to the NEFC Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. He provided the Panther highlights in a disappointing 41-16 loss to Mount Ida College in the home opener at Currier Field.
Long rushed 23 times for 128 yards on Saturday, a 5.6 average. It was his second straight 100-yard rushing performance and the fifth of his career. Long is off to a strong start this season and ranks fifth in the NEFC with 117.5 rushing yards per game. He was the NEFC Boyd Division Rookie of the Year in 2009.
The Panthers, 1-1 overall, travel to Bridgewater State University on Saturday (1 p.m.)
