Plymouth State selected second in poll
Curry College and Maine Maritime Academy, the two participants in the 2009 New England Football Conference Championship game, have been selected as the preseason favorites in the Boyd Division and the Bogan Division of the NEFC in a poll conducted among conference coaches. Curry was also tabbed by the coaches as the preseason favorite to earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
Curry, the 2009 Boyd Division titlist, received six first place votes. Plymouth State University and Endicott College had one first place vote each. In the Bogan, Maine Maritime captured five first place nods, with the other three going to Bridgewater State College.
The 16 conference coaches put forth their selections for the eventual Conference champion with Curry receiving 11 votes, Plymouth State and Maine Maritime received two votes each, and Bridgewater State was named on one ballot.
The NEFC will kick off the 2010 season on Sept. 2 when Massachusetts Maritime travels to SUNY Maritime for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The NEFC championship game, pitting the champions of the Bogan and Boyd Divisions, will be held Nov. 13 at noon at the site of the Bogan Division Champion.
