The New Hampshire Shrine team was in full pads for most of Friday's three practice sessions. The team focused on defense in the morning and offense in the afternoon. There was also a light session (special teams) at night.
"We're still trying to decide which players are going to start on D and on O," New Hampshire coach Ken Sciacca said. "We intend to start 22 players. The offense is coming slowly; running will be our strength but both (D.J.) Petropolus (Souhegan) and (Dyland) Brodeur (Nashua North) can throw and we have excellent receivers in the backfield and at tight and split end. We intend to throw a good bit. We have worked on our kicking game in the evening and right now the place-kicking and kickoff duties wll belong to either (Connor) Lyons (Tinity) or (Tom) Poitras (Bow). The punter is still undecided."
New Hampshire was scheduled to have a defensive practice Saturday morning and a scrimmage in the afternoon. The scrimmage is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. and is open to friends and relatives.
This year's Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl will be played at Windsor (Vt.) High School's MacLeay-Royce Field next Saturday. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
New Hampshire leads the all-time series againt Vermont 41-13-2 and extended its winning streak to nine games by posting a 40-6 victory over Vermont last summer.
