It may have taken longer than he expected, but Souhegan High School's Sean Cultrera put an end to the recruiting process when he gave a verbal commitment to Duquesne University on Sunday.

"Academically it's a really good school," Cultrera said. "Football-wise they said I'll have a chance to compete right away. They might not even redshirt me."

Cultrera, a 6-foot, 285-pound offensive lineman, was a First Team All-State selection following his senior season. He helped Souhegan win the Division III championship in 2008 and 2009. He said he'll likely play defensive tackle in college.

Dusquesne, which is located in Pittsburgh, is a Division I program that competes at the FCS level. The Dukes play in the Northeast Conference.

Cultrera, who wrote the Varsity Insider column for New Hampshire Football Report last season, said he also strongly considered New Haven and St. Anselm.

"St. Anselm is a small school that's really close to home," he said. "I liked New Haven a lot, but it's not on the same level as Duquesne. I'm happy."
