UNH releases 2010 schedule
The University of New Hampshire has announced its football schedule for the 2010 season.
UNH will play Central Connecticut State in its season-opener at Cowell Stadium on Sept. 4. Three of UNH's first four games will be against non-conference opponents.
The Wildcats will then play at Pittsburgh on Sept. 11. The game will be at Heinz Field, home of the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers. Pitt posted a 10-3 record in 2009, placed second in the Big East and was ranked No. 15 in the final FBS Associated Press national poll. UNH has won five straight games over FBS teams with victories over Rutgers, Northwestern, Marshall, Army and Ball State since 2004.
UNH will face its first CAA opponent on Sept. 18 when the Wildcats will travel to Rhode Island. UNH then returns home for a Sept. 25 matchup against Lehigh on Family Weekend to round out the non-conference games.
A game at long-time traditional rival Maine will no longer be the played as the final contest of the season for both teams and will now take place on Oct. 2 in Orono.
Homecoming has been scheduled for Oct. 9, when UNH will face a Richmond team that was ranked No. 5 in the nation in the final Sports Network FCS national poll.
UNH will travel to James Madison for the first time since 2007 on Oct. 16 and will face UMass in a home game that will be played Oct. 23.
