New Hampton's Kollie headed to Lafayette

New Hampton School's Jethro Kollie, a Lowell, Mass. resident, signed a national letter of intent with Lafayette College  in Easton, Penn. on Wednesday. It was the first day that high school seniors could ink letters with Division I programs.

Lafayette, which competes in the Patriot League, finished 8-3 last season.

Kollie, a 5-foot-6, 160-pound running back, led the Huskies to an 8-1 season and the NEPSAC Austin Bowl title. Despite missing two games with an ankle injury, Kollie rushed for 850 yards and eight touchdowns on 98 carries. He also made 31 tackles on defense. He was at his most dangerous on special teams, returning two kickoffs for touchdowns and adding another score on a punt return.

Kollie has attended New Hampton the last two years after transferring from Lowell High School.

"I visited Lafayette last weekend and really felt comfortable with the coaching staff, the players, and the entire campus community," Kollie said. "I think I'm ready to make an impact. New Hampton really has prepared me well for football and the classroom and I'm looking forward to the challenge."
