Marquel Carter, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound quarterback from Culver City (Calif.) High School, has given a verbal committment to the University of New Hampshire following a visit to the UNH campus last weekend.
Carter (pictured), who is fluent in Japanese, also plays basketball and runs track for Culver City.
Carter is a versatile athlete and several recruiting sites have projected him as a defensive back or slot receiver at the college level. Earlier this year he was profiled by Sports Illustrated, which called him one of the most underrated football players in the Los Angeles area.
According to MaxPreps, Carter completed 193 of 331 passes for 2,995 yards and 30 touchdowns last season. He also carried the ball 90 times for 509 yards and 16 TDs.
He passed for 2,273 yards and 17 TDs as a junior, when he also rushed for 589 yards and 13 TDs.
