Exeter's McAllister represents USA in all-star game

Exeter resident Kyle McAllister (pictured) McAllister.jpgwas among those who represented Team Stars and Stripes in a 24-12 loss to the Tec Monterrey All-Stars on Saturday at the Tec de Monterrey Campus Estado de Mexico.

Team Stars & Stripes, a collection of Division III all-stars, trailed 17-0 after three quarters, but pulled within five points, 17-12, with 5:48 to play. Tec added another touchdown with 1.22 remaining.

McAllister, a defensive back who played at Exeter High School before he joined the Bates College football program, was a First Team defensive selection on the NESCAC Football All-Conference team following his senior season.

McAllister finished the season with 36 tackles (24 solo), two interceptions, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery. McAllister also averaged 18.1 yards on 17 kickoff returns and 9.8 yards on four punt returns, and was named the NESCAC Special Teams Player of the Week after his 45-yard kickoff return helped set up a fourth-quarter touchdown for Bates in its 28-24 win over Bowdoin on Nov. 7.

After three seasons as a regular in the Bates lineup, McAllister finished his career with 141 tackles (92 solo), 11 interceptions, 22 passes defended, three forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries. He is Bates' first two-time member of the All-NESCAC football team since Terence Ryan in 2006.
