Jellison, Petropulos may be headed to Amherst
Souhegan High School running back Steven Jellison and Souhegan quarterback D.J. Petropulos have reportedly chosen to continue their football careers at Division III Amherst College.
The Nashua Telegraph reported that each player has applied for early decision in the admissions process and will know by Dec. 15.
Jellison, who has rushed for 1,350 yards and scored 28 touchdowns this season, gained 237 yards and scored five touchdowns to help Souhegan beat Portsmouth 49-29 in the Division III championship game. He averaged more than 9 yards per carry this fall.
Petropulos has completed 119 of 202 pass attempts for 1,576 yards and 22 touchdowns. He has been intercepted once.
Souhegan will wrap up its season with a Thanksgiving Day game against Division II Merrimack.
Earlier this year Jellison said Division III football appealed to him because the Division III schools that were recruiting him said he could continue to play offense. He projected as a defensive player at the Division I level.
Both Jellison and Petropulos were Division I All-State selections this season.
