Cowboy up! UNH will face McNeese State
The University of New Hampshire has qualified for the NCAA playoffs for the sixth time in as many years.
The Wildcats (9-2) learned Sunday afternoon that they will play at McNeese State (9-2) in the first round of the FCS tournament. The game will be played Saturday at a time to be announced.
UNH is one of four Colonial Athletic Association teams that qualified for the tournament, joining Richmond, William & Mary and Villanova.
McNeese State shared the Southland Conference title with Stephen F. Austin, a team that is also in the 16-team field. McNeese State is located in Lake Charles, La., and every player on its roster is from either Louisiana or Texas.
McNeese State's losses came against Tulane (42-32) and Stephen F. Austin (16-13).
Should UNH prevail, it would face either Villanova (10-1) or Holy Cross (9-2) in the second round. UNH handed Villanova its only loss during the regular season.
