Wolves earn trip to Iowa

Manchester Wolves.gifThe Manchester Wolves earned the No. 7 seed for the arenafootball2 league playoffs and will play at second-seeded Iowa in a first-round playoff game Friday night.

The Wolves (7-9) and the Barnstormers (12-4) have never met in the 10-year history of the league. Manchester entered the 2008 af2 postseason as the No. 7 seed and won two dramatic, come-from-behind, road games against the second- and third-seeded teams before falling to Tennessee Valley -- the eventual ArenaCup champions -- in the American Conference title game.

The Wolves have not named a starting quarterback for their game against Iowa. In last weekend's loss to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the two quarterbacks on Manchester's roster were injured. Starter Mike Potts broke the pinky finger on his throwing hand and back-up Willie Copeland suffered a broken ankle.

Wide receiver Steve Savoy played QB for most of the second half.
