Manchester's Isaac breaks team record

Manchester Wolves.gifManchester Wolves defensive back Brandon Isaac has established the team record for interceptions in a season.

Isaac, a rookie who has appeared in 11 of Manchester's 13 games this season, has intercepted eight passes. The former record of seven interceptions in a season was held by Allistair Sebastien, who is now the team's defensive backs coach. Isaac ranks fourth in the arenafootball2 league in interceptions.

"I had no idea that I broke the franchise record for interceptions, but it is an honor," Isaac said. "I've been working hard all season long to learn the arena game and play my best and it has paid off. Hopefully, I can keep going strong and help my team get into the playoffs and go on from there."

Isaac, who played both safety and cornerback for the University of South Carolina, had three interceptions against the Mahoning Valley Thunder on June 19. The team record for interceptions in a game is four.

"Brandon is a great player, a great athlete, and a great competitor," Sebastien said "He works hard every day and on every play. The more he learns about the game and the different routes and receivers, the better he's going to become."

In addition to his eight interceptions and 19 passes defended, Isaac has recorded 60 solo tackles and 64 total tackles this season.

"I'm happy to be here, and I want to do everything I can to help my team win," Isaac said.
