Stallman in running for Rice award

Souhegan High School's Ben Stallman is one of 100 candidates eligible to win the 2008 Jerry Rice Wide Receiver of the Year Award.
Stallman, a senior, caught 35 passes for 683 yards and eight touchdowns last season, when he helped Souhegan post a 12-0 record and win the Division III state championship. Stallman holds the Souhegan record for receptions in a season (35), yards receiving in a season (683) and receptions in a career (95). He was selected to the Division III All-State team following his junior and senior seasons and completed his career with 1,688 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns.
The 100 candidates for the award include one representative from each state. There are also 50 at-large selections. Stallman is the only player representing New Hampshire.
The list will be trimmed to 32 finalists later this month.
