Milford regains home-field advantage

In the fall of 2006 the Portsmouth High School football team traveled to Milford for a Division III playoff game. When many Portsmouth fans arrived, they were stunned by what they saw.

Milford didn't have a field fit for a playoff game. In fact, the field didn't seem fit for any varsity game.

Milford played all but one of its "home" game at Souhegan High School last fall while a new field -- and track -- project began in Milford.

This year the Spartans will have a natural-surface field of their own that will sit in front of press box and grandstand with room for 1,000 spectators. The Milford community is hoping that the grandstand will be ready when Milford plays Bedford on Sept. 5.
